I believe that the author of this poem (Helen Steiner Rice) wrote this poem to express that friendship is a rare gift that can not be replaced. This poem tells us how friends have many qualities that gold and riches don't have. E.G.
It has no ears to listen, no heart to understand, etc.
I like this poem because because it is a deep poem and has many meaningful words and phrases that show you how you often take friendships for granted E.G. value, powerless, etc. The rhyming also gives it a rhythm E.G. sold - gold, understand - hand, etc.
A priceless gift is a ballad and some of the poetry devices used in it are rhyming (E.G. sold-gold, understand-hand) and personification. (E.G. gold is cold and lifeless)
I think that this poem teaches an important lesson about friendship and how true friendship is irreplaceable and should be treasured by all.

I think that the author of Mans Best Friend (William Worthless) is trying to teach a lesson that furry friends are often your best friends and that animals need recognition for their friendship as well as people. E.G. A dog is always mans best friend, he is with you till the end, etc.
I like this poem because it acknowledges animals and how they are also important in our lives an deserve recognition. I also like the rhyming and wording of this poem E.G. faithful, true, find-kind, true-you, there-care,etc.
Mans Best Friend is a couplet and one of the poetry devices used in the poem is rhyming E.G. find-kind, true-you, there-care,etc.

My Poems
I thought that doing a shape poem would be a good choice because it shows an image I wasn't sure what shape I was going to do until a friend suggested the infinity symbol as friends are forever.
My poem is a shape poem and my poems language devices are Imagery because of the infinity symbol, and rhyming. E.G forever-together, thin-grin, pod-odd, etc. |
